Registration

The Guide to Registration & Bill Payment provides step-by-step instructions for online course registration and bill payment through Southern's MySCSU Banner Web Services

Students who need assistance enrolling in a course which has a pre-requisite should contact their Academic Advisor for assistance. Returning students with majors are advised by their assigned departmental advisors. Contact the department of your chosen major to find out who your academic advisor is and when he/she can be reached. All undeclared and visiting students should contact the Academic Advisement Center at: (203) 392-5367 or via email at Advisement@SouthernCT.edu for guidance.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for currently matriculated students who did not borrow the maximum loan amount for their grade level during fall 2017 and spring 2018. This balance can be applied towards Summer Session. Qualifying students must complete the following documents prior to May 7th, 2018. Summer 2018 Pell Grants

The U. S. Department of Education announced that students who received a Pell Grant for the 2017-2018 year may be eligible to receive additional Pell Grant for summer 2018.     Students must register and maintain a minimum of six (6) credits during one or more of the summer sessions, and the courses must be part of their planned program.  To apply for summer financial aid, complete the Summer 2018 Financial Aid Application and submit it to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.  

It is important to note that this change will not result in extra Pell Grant being awarded to a student over the course of their undergraduate enrollment.  The maximum time frame that eligible students may receive Pell Grant is for twelve full-time semesters.   In the past, a full-time student could only receive two disbursements per year.   Now the student will be able to receive up to three Pell Grant disbursements in one academic year (fall, spring and summer).  Learn more (pdf).

Summer Session Cost and Bill Payment

Information about tuition and fees can be found on the Student Accounts website. Select “Tuition and Fees 2017-2018” and the “Summer, Winter & Spring Break” document to review the costs of summer coursework that applies to you.

For Summer Session, payment is due upon registration. Proper payment arrangements include personal or third party payment in full, enrollment in a payment plan, and/or financial aid awards or scholarships posted to the student's account. Please visit the Student Accounts website for a detailed list of all payment methods and please see the Guide to Registration & Bill Payment for step-by-step instructions on bill payment.

Visiting Students

Registration

If you would like to take a course at Southern and you have never applied to the university, please complete the Web Registration Form for Visiting Students in order to receive a student identification number for Web registration. Please complete the form in its entirety so we may create your SCSU Student Account.

Once your form is submitted, you will receive an email with your Student ID number and your MySCSU Username; as well as instructions on how to log-in and register. It is very important to provide us with a current and valid email address or you will not receive the information necessary to register. The Guide to Registration & Bill Payment also provides step-by-step instructions for online course registration and bill payment through Southern's MySCSU Banner Web Services.

Please contact the Academic Advisement Center at: (203) 392-5367 or via email at Advisement@SouthernCT.edu for guidance.to inquire about prerequisite equivalencies from other schools. Academic Advisement will act as a liaison between you and the academic department to determine your eligibility for a summer course. This process may require you to send evidence of previously completed coursework at your institution.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is not available for visiting students through Southern. If you have been awarded financial aid at your home institution, there is a possibility that this aid can be transferred to Southern for the summer. Please contact the financial aid office at your home institution for more information.
